Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 18, 2026

Smarddy is built to need as little of your data as possible. You can play without creating an account, and we never sell personal data.

What we collect

Game data you enter: a display name, a color, and an icon, plus your votes, answers, and scores. Names and scores can be visible to other players in your room and on leaderboards.

Browser ID: Firebase assigns a random ID to your browser so rooms, scores, and streaks work without sign-up. The ID does not contain your name, but it can recognize that browser over time. Your name, preferences, and personal bests are stored in your own browser's local storage.

Usage analytics: Vercel Analytics gives us aggregate page and visitor statistics without cookies or cross-site tracking. We also keep coarse gameplay counters, such as how many daily runs finished today, to improve the games.

What we don't collect

No advertising trackers today, no selling or sharing of personal data for marketing, no precise location, no contact lists. If ads ever launch, we will update this policy first. If paid upgrades launch, payment details go directly to Stripe and card numbers never touch our servers; Stripe handles your email and billing details under its own privacy policy. If optional sign-in (Google or an email link) is available and you use it, we store the linked account info with your existing game ID so progress and purchases stay with you.

Where data lives

Game rooms and scores are stored with Google Firebase (US) and the site is served by Vercel. Game rooms are meant to be temporary, but old room data can linger until it is cleaned up. Leaderboard entries keep the display name you chose. You can clear locally stored names, preferences, and bests in your browser settings. To ask us to remove a leaderboard name, a linked account, or other server data we can reasonably identify, email us. If you visit from outside the United States, your data is still processed in the US.

Kids

Smarddy is written to be family-friendly and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Free text in the game is limited to display names, answers typed during writing rounds (visible to your room), and an optional feedback box. Please do not put real names, emails, phone numbers, or other personal details in any of them. Parents: please supervise play, especially physical dares.

Policy changes & tracking choices

We may update this policy by posting a new version and changing the date above; before a material change to how we use personal data, we will post a notice in the service. Smarddy does not track you across other websites, and Vercel Analytics does not use cookies or cross-site tracking, so browser Do Not Track signals don't change anything: there is no tracking to turn off.
